TIMOTHY, a young man in the ministry received some great principles from his father in the Lord, Apostle Paul. Through his gracious experience, Paul admonished him to give attention to reading. Attention here means full concentration or devotion. In life, it’s not everything or everyone who deserves your attention. However, you should give your attention to what really matters most in life. As a young man, Paul knew many things from different angles would try to seek his attention; the family, world, lust, money, luxury, relatives, friends etc. But his attention should be given to the activity of reading.
Reading what ? One, the holy scriptures, (2 Tim 3:15); and two the notes of Apostle Paul, what I call the “letters of the fathers”. So he told him “Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come-and the books, especially the parchments” (2 Timothy 4:13). One key to his success in life or ministry came through reading books. Reading impacts you with different kinds of knowledge. To be successful in life, reading books especially the Bible and those from anointed authors can never be undermined. Getting knowledge through reading will inform your choices, give you revelations and leave a great impact on your entire life. Seek God’s truth concerning any area of life, because He knows best.
God is interested in letting His Children know His thoughts about life in order for them to apply to become successful (Hosea 4:6). Yes, God even orients great men and women with books. For instance, He told Joshua “this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth…” (Joshua 1:8). Daniel also understood by books. Be enriched with knowledge through books. Read about faith, grace, love, mercy, faithfulness, righteousness, prosperity, divine health/healing, people, finances, marriage, relationships etc. Reading is part of learning and learning is the activity of the wise (Proverbs 1:5). Be devoted to it and make exploits in your generation. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
I DECLARE
As a New Creation, I give attendance to reading my Bible and quality books which will impact my life positively. My mind is renewed daily as I get devoted to studying the things of God. Therefore, I refuse to talk, think and act ordinary. Wisdom, revelation and impact are my hallmarks as I give attention to quality reading in Jesus Name! Hallelujah !
