FASTING, A SACRED SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
Mark 2 vs
20.¶ But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. ~|KJV|
CHERISHED one, have you ever asked why Jesus fasted and prayed when He walked this earth? Was He not the begotten Son of God? Didn’t great Prophets, Patriarchs and angels announced His miraculous birth and destiny? But they didn’t tell him to fast right? Yes! But note that Jesus as a man was subject to the natural laws and wicked systems of this world. So He had to operate by heavenly or godly principles in order to succeed on this earth. Jesus said “The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father residing in me performs his miraculous deeds” (John 14:10).
So He fasted by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in order to fortify his spirit, mind and body against the wiles and schemes of the devil; and also to walk in the power of the Spirit (Luke 4:1-14). So fasting is a godly agenda; it’s a system or exercise to make you more spiritually alert. Beloved, fasting is not an outmoded spiritual practice; it is a powerful spiritual tool to energize you for higher spiritual altitude. No wonder Jesus and the disciples adhered to fasting and prayers and we can’t afford to ignore it in our lives (Acts 13:2;14:23). We are admonished to look unto Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Therefore it’s expedient we engage ourselves in His lifestyle. Fasting is often seen a total abstinence from food. But it’s more than that; It’s a sacred spiritual exercise where you purposefully abstain from food for sometime and give yourself and time to a more spiritual atmosphere with the Lord. It’s not the same as starving or going on a hunger strike; but it’s a holy or sacred moment that you dedicate yourself to divine activities by abstaining from food for a given period of time. Therefore spend some quality time and engage yourself in this sacred exercise for a greater spiritual advancement. The amazing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
Thank You All-Knowing Father for the ability given me to exercise myself unto godliness. For godliness is profitable unto all things. I engage in spiritual exercise of fasting to be sensitive to enjoy a fruitful fellowship with You and to walk in the power of the Spirit in the Name of Jesus Christ ! Amen !
Enjoy A Spirit-filled Saturday!
