LAZINESS HAS NO REWARD
Proverbs 13 vs
>>4.¶The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.~| WEB|
THERE is a saying that “if wishes were horses beggars would ride.” This means that it’s only the beggar who make wishes and never pursue those wishes himself. Our opening text puts it in a more clarified way that “the soul of the lazy or sluggard person desires but has nothing”. From the Hebrew rendition, it means the lazy person sets his mind to covet, wish, sigh, long waiting and engage in greedy wishing.
Words that are used to describe the desires of the lazy soul, involves “covet, wish, sigh, long waiting, greedy wishing”. This unveils the state of a lazy person. Instead of him to fight for his own, he will like to covet. To covet means to wrongly desire that which belongs to your neighbour. He never thinks of the times, resources and energy that his neighbor put out to get those things. A lazy soul lays down and sit to sigh and wish things to fall on his lap.* To be lazy means unwilling to do work or make any effort for success.
The Bible reveals some attitudes of lazy folks in the following texts. The lazy loves sleep and folding of arms; “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? (Pro 6:9)._ Also, he does not have the willingness to plow because he can’t face cold, difficulties or seasons of life. _”The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing” Proverbs 20:4)._Also,Proverbs 26:16 says _”The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.”_Most times, a “sleeping person” implies a “sleeping mind and hands”; awake from sleep or slumber and get to work. For laziness has no reward.* The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
I am a diligent person so I choose to put my hands and mind to creatively and productively device something worthwhile. The clinches of laziness shall not cover my life. I stand up to work and the Lord blesses the labour of my hands in Jesus Name. Amen!
*Enjoy A Blessed Tuesday*
