THE Spirit of God through Apostle Paul admonished the Church in Thessalonica on several issues concerning the Christian living. Now he tells them not to despise prophecies. Prophecies are truths or revelations emanating from divine inspiration which declare the plans, heartbeat, purposes and intents of God for an individual, group or nation. It has the ability to tell the past, present and future events as they unfold. *Prophecies are meant to reprove, admonish, comfort, console and edify.*
Both the Old and New Testaments are full of such prophecies. Most prophecies in the OT relates to the person and ministry and Kingdom of Christ. Jesus came to fulfill the volume of prophecies written about Him (Luke 24:44). Jesus who was also a Prophet believed in prophecies; He never despised them (Mat 24:3). But there are those who do not believe in prophecies and think that they are lies or just psychological predictions. Well, as a New Creation, you are admonished not to JOIN the carnal or “natural people” to despise or scoff at prophecies. *God still speaks to His Church because He is the Living God.*
*To despise prophecies means to treat it with contempt or dishonour or to take them lightly as mere mental gimmicks.* The Bible is the first prophetic book. Never despise anything written in it as a lie. Because, you will face the consequences of any prophecy you despise in the Bible or real life. Cherished one, respect, esteem and honour the ministry of true Prophets and prophecies concerning the Church of Christ, His coming and those about your personal life. *Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of the prophets. Do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise inspired instruction or exhortation or warning.* The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
PRAYER
_Omniscient Father, You know all things. Nothing is hidden from You. I thank You for the Biblical and revelational prophecies written for my exhortation, comfort and edification. I refuse to despise Your divine inspiration and revelation meant for my progress. I honour, esteem and value them for my benefit in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!_
