TEST FOR THE WORD: “THE STONY GROUND HEARERS “
Mark 4 vs
16.¶These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; -|NKJV|
ANOTHER category of hearers is the “stony ground hearers”. This implies the folks with stony hearts in hearing God’s word. Beloved, hearing is very important. You are either informed and reformed by what you hear or deformed by the same. *Every word of God will be tested by the devil or situations or challenges you face.* And your ability to confront them with the word determines your next level in life. Christians in this category exhibit certain qualities when receiving God’s word; They receive the word with joy (Mat 13:20) and even shout “ Hallelujah, I receive it ! Amen!” and the likes.
However, in the test of time, when persecutions, tribulations or challenges come , they easily give up on what they’ve received. Because they do not have root in themselves (Mat 13:2); not having root in yourself means-one lacks the enough ability to stand firm in times of difficulties. Therefore they are able to endure only for a while (temporary), become inconsistent, and stumble when challenges arise because of the word. They begin to question the integrity of God’s word; they are repelled and begin to distrust and desert Him Whom they ought to be trusted and obeyed.
Jesus made it clear that the persecution came because of the word you have received. Will you be surprised to know that the devil is not interested in stealing your car or house more than “robbing” the word of God you have received concerning your destiny ? He did it to Jesus, he was after the word of God that Jesus is the Son of God and questioned Him that “if You are truly the Son of God” (Mat 4:4). Beloved, I believe you can pass this “stony test” level and move on to higher levels where God wants you to be. Keep your faith and confessions strong. Be rooted in the Word. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
Dear Father, thank You for guiding me into all truth in Your word. I set my heart not to entertain a stony heart. I’m always in tune to hear what You want me to hear. I receive enough grace to overcome this test whenever it comes in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
Enjoy A Gracious Wednesday!
