Ephesians 6 vs
2.¶”Honour thy father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise.-|NKJV|

IT doesn’t matter how old, gifted, talented, rich, beautiful, handsome, wise or smart you are, God brought you to this earth through a mother and father. You didn’t evolve or burst forth; Therefore, as part of your responsibility is to honour them. Modernism and technology do not change godly values. Your parent might not be educated or have all the degrees and certificates, but they are worth honouring as commanded by God’s Word.

To honour means “to esteem and value as precious”. Yes, esteem your parent as valuable, dear and precious. You do this by obeying, respecting, loving and supporting them where necessary. Another way to honour them is to become an asset to them and society, not a liability. When they see you they should gladly boast of you as their true son or daughter. Treat every father or mother, whether biological or not, with honour. This can also be applied to your father or mother in the Lord. Esteem them highly.

Your honour to them presupposes that they too have already invested in you what makes a child honourable. That’s why they have the responsibility to train the child in the fear of the Lord (Prv 22:6). Refuse to rebel against your parents. Even when they hurt you, deal with them in God’s wisdom and refuse to be rude. Obeying this command comes with a blessing of longevity. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for bringing me to this earth through my parents. I honour them as Your word commands. I receive grace to heartily forgive them even if they have wronged me in any way. I believe you will help me love, give, obey and support them in Jesus Name. Amen!
