Peter, one disciple of Christ asked a profound question that many are still asking today in Christianity-“What shall I get for following Jesus”? (Mat 19:27). Though a disciple, he didn’t understand why he had left all to follow Jesus. Yes, there is always something to leave behind if you want to come to Christ. Some have left a bad relationship or company; others left illegal business deals; myriad of them have been forsaken by their mothers, fathers, relatives and friends for the sake of Jesus and the gospel.

The apostle wanted to know whether there was any rewarding system for following Jesus. The Master’s answer was absolutely remarkable. He didn’t say “Peter, you are carnal or worldly”. He assured all those who follow Him a hundred fold return of mothers, fathers, cars, lands, moneys, businesses etc and better than whatever they had left behind. Above all, Jesus tops it with a hundredfold reward in the world to come. Beloved, you must be conscious of this reality that you are put on a double reward system, both on earth and in the world to come (Mark 10:30).

However, the main focus is for the sake of Christ and the gospel. Yes, don’t be consumed by the affairs of this life without the “Jesus and the gospel content” in your life. If you know Him already, make it a point to let others know Him too. For God is a rewarder (Heb 11:6). And wages await every labourer of the gospel from the earth and in heaven. You can’t afford to keep quiet about Jesus and His gospel (Rom 1:16). By so doing, your earthly and heavenly rewards are assured (Mat 5:12). Rejoice and keep blazing in the work of the Lord. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for putting me on a rewarding scheme, both on earth and in the next world to come. I receive a hundredfold return of houses, cars, money, fathers, mothers, lands, health, wealth for the sake of Jesus and the gospel. I am never ashamed of the gospel. Thank You for giving me a rewarding life in Jesus’ Name. Amen !_
