OUR focal text unveils the standpoint of the early church led by the Apostles. One criteria they used to elect leaders was to select from the brethren, which means “fellow believers in Christ, united to another by the bond of affection”. Thus, Christians conceived from the “womb” of the same Spirit. Two, brethren who had good reputation were considered to lead. Good reputation means having a good or honourable testimony or report from others. Thus, a good attested character and repute. This is very vital in your walk with God.

As a believer, the character of Christ should envelope your life to the extent that people can give good and honourable testimony of you. *The Apostles were looking for men who had disciplined their lives in good character.* Apostle Paul describing the criteria for a bishop said “…he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may NOT FALL INTO DISGRACE and be caught by the devil’s trap.” (1Timothy 3:7). Cherished one, don’t let anyone deceive you that your character doesn’t matter. Your character matters to God, the Church and the people around you. Even business organizations often stand the test of time when people with well attested character and good reputation are employed.

Having a good reputation is not automatic; it involves a gradual, conscious and persistent growth in moral excellence. A good reputation is one birthed from your pure words, thoughts, emotions, decisions, actions and habits. Are you a person of good reputation? Can you tell your family, friends, loved ones and even Nation to learn from you? Many temptations will come your way to make you soil your good name or reputation but use all the graces, abilities and the mercy of God bestowed on you to stand for godliness. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER
Holy Father, I thank You for conceiving me with Your nature of righteousness which causes me to will and do of your good pleasures. I receive more humility and guidance to always live with a good reputation to bring glory to Your Name and the Church in Jesus Name. Amen!_
