17. A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.-|KJV|

THERE ARE are different types of relationships, and most start with friendship. Who is a friend? God called Abraham His friend (2 Ch 20:7; James 2:23); Jonathan was David’s best friend. Jesus called His disciples “friends”(John 15:15). Yes, there is a friendly level of any relationship, even among married couples. Individually, you may have many friends at different stages of your life. Some will go and others will remain. But the Bible describes a true friend as one who loves at all times. Thus, such a friend loves equally in challenging times as well as in prosperity. *A friend of this calibre loves or sticks through all kinds of weather and environment.*

The Message Translation says “Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like a family”(Prv 18:24). Such a person doesn’t only seek his or her own welfare above yours. He celebrates your success out of love, not envy and backbiting. That kind of friendship is not actually based on things that one can receive or enjoy, but on the love for the person. You may be having many good friends, yet amongst them is one who loves at all times and sticks closer like a family. Beloved, that good friend is worth a lifetime.

Situations will test whether you are a genuine friend or just a beneficial friend. Two is better than one; and a ‘sticking or loving’ friend is worth having in marriage for a wife or husband; in a ministry for a pastor, in a workplace for a boss or co-worker; in church for a brother or sister; in school for a comrade. Keep and grow that spirit of lovely friendship as a sweet fragrance that others will emulate from. God bless all great and godly friendships in Jesus’ Name. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER
Dear Lovely Father, thank You for the all time-loving, caring and cherished friends You bring my way. I receive enough grace, strength, knowledge, wisdom, understanding and humility to love and care for them as You desire of me. Continue to bless and lift these friends higher in every good work in Jesus’ Name. Amen !
