Money is one commodity that keeps most affairs and activities of life running. It’s widely known as the legal means of exchange for goods and services. Money is not just a commodity but also an answer or solution to many material problems. The Preacher says in “A party gives laughter, and wine gives happiness, and money answers all things !” (Eccl 10:19). The “all things” pertains to material or resources that can be purchased by money. In other words, you can use money to obtain anything under this sun which demands money.

Because it’s not everything in this life that is “buyable” or can be obtained by money, especially things that are spiritual in nature. For instance, Apostle Peter told Simon the sorcerer that, “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God’s free gift with money! (Act 8:20). So money answers most things relating to material or physical stuff. Due to this reality many have been bought into slavery by money. Money serves as a commodity; However, when it influences your decisions then it means it’s backed by the “spirit of mammon” (Matt 6:24).

That’s why many are arrogant because of their money. It’s not the commodity controlling them but the spirit of mammon. But, as a New Creation, the holy scripture admonishes us to have the right attitude towards money. We are warned never to love it but keep ourselves FREE from its dominion. Because loving money is the root of all kinds of evil resulting to all manner of greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions. Through this craving some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. (1 Timothy 6:10).

To love money is to be controlled by it to the extent that you’ll use any dubious means to get it. Don’t let money dictate every move or action you take; Rather, allow God’s word to influence your decisions. Let your character or moral disposition be FREE from love of money for you are greater than money. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER
Father of all True riches, I thank You for the ability to allow Your word influence my decisions than money. I choose to serve You not material things. For in You I live, move and have my being. Money is my servant and I master its dominion by the authority of God’s word in Jesus Name. Amen !
