CONFORMING TO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST
Romans 8 vs
»»29. ¶For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be CONFORMED to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. ~|NKJV|«««||
Mankind naturally loves to become like someone else. Mostly, they admire to be like those who have made great success in certain areas of life. Many Christians want to be like most Bible characters such as Noah, Abraham, Daniel, Paul, Mary,Joseph etc. Everyone desires the good characters. Well, that’s not a bad idea though, but generally that’s not God’s ULTIMATE plan for you as a New Creation. Yes, there are many good virtues we can learn from them. For instance, the Bible tells us to learn from those who through faith and patience inherit the promise (Hebrews 6:12 ). Meaning, we can emulate a lot from them, but not necessarily their personalities.
There is only One Person’s image to be conformed or molded to. He is Jesus Christ. *All that we need for living a victorious Christian life is found in Him.* The word “conformed” used above comes from the Greek word “summorphos”. It means “having the same form as another”. Jesus is the only “form” God predestined us to have. Yes, God’s standard for His children is to attain to the “measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:13). Every believer is destined to be conformed to Christ in words, thoughts and deeds (Matt 11:29,30). He is the Perfect Example for living a fulfilling life on earth. Galatians 4:19 says “until Christ be formed in you”. Hallelujah !
The Apostles, Peter, Paul, John etc had Jesus as their major focus (1 Cor 11:1; Ephesians 5:1). They emulated Him in words, deeds, thoughts to the extent that the Jews and the high priests noticed “they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). It is clearly evident and true that as Jesus is, so are we in this world (I John 4:17). That’s eternally true, but we have to consciously and persistently walk and grow in His wisdom, knowledge, word, deeds and thought patterns in order to represent Him well on earth. Beloved, let all your desires and pursuit be in conformity to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. His Spirit is here to help you no matter how challenging it may seem. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
Dear Lord Jesus, I love You so much for You first loved me. As You are so I am in this world. My life is predestined to be conformed and molded to Yours. I partake and live the divine nature. I am living to show forth Your praises in word, thoughts and deeds by the power of Your Spirit in me. Hallelujah !
Enjoy A Triumphant Thursday!
