APOSTLE Paul, being a Roman himself uses the common armour worn by Roman soldiers as the analogy for the believer’s spiritual defense and affirms its necessity if one is to hold his position while under attack (Acts 22:27). There is no doubt that Satan’s power over Christians is broken. For Christ, through death and resurrection has won the great victory over Satan, sin and death and has given the victory to His Church. However, ignorance of how to walk in this victory will lead to many becoming “casualties” in the journey of life.

Aside the belt of truth, we are admonished to put on the breastplate of righteousness. “The breastplate was usually a tough, sleeveless piece of leather or heavy material with animal horn or hoof pieces sewn on, covering the soldier’s full torso, protecting his heart and other vital organs.” This explains why living righteous or holy life is one of the authoritative armour for the believer. Righteousness must be seen in the light of Christ, not man-made form. Thus, righteousness which of faith in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:9).

Any sort of righteousness which doesn’t rest on Christ cannot be accepted by God. Righteousness by faith in Christ means a life resting and being governed by the life, nature, character and Spirit of Christ revealed in all aspect of one’s life. This is vital because imputed righteousness is to empower you to deliver or exhibit the works or acts of His righteousness.*The true righteousness revealed in Christ has conquered the power of sin, error and falsehood. Sin doesn’t dominate that Christian. Such a person is not a sin practitioner for he has exercised his senses to discern between good and evil.

Cherished one, love acts of righteousness, abhor any evil. The Spirit admonishes us: _”By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the RIGHT hand and on the LEFT” (2 Corinthians 6:7)._ Thus, acts of righteousness must govern us on every side. Walk to fulfill all righteousness in your character, spiritual life, ministry, marriage, finances, academics etc. Engage this armour as revealed in Christ; For you are justified. Don’t allow the devil to accuse you in any way. Stand boldly and enjoy the glorious life in righteousness. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

PRAYER

Father of Righteousness, thank You for unveiling to me the righteousness revealed in Christ. I am clothed with the breastplate of righteousness in my words, thoughts and actions. I choose to graciously love acts of righteousness and hate iniquities. I am anointed with the oil of gladness in Jesus Name. Amen!_
