JESUS accepted and spoke that He was the Son of God during His earthly assignment. So when tempted by the devil, He didn’t explain His Sonship to the devil. Rather, He used the authority of His Sonship to overcome the devil. *You don’t need to explain your identity to the devil.* He already knows whether you are the child of God or not. The devil can tempt you in spite of your identity but your response should be exercising authority over his schemes.
The fact that you are the son or daughter of God doesn’t mean the devil cannot tempt you. But when he does, use the power of your identity in Christ to exercise authority and position him where He belongs. In our focal text, Jesus exercised authority over the devil by telling him to “Go Away” from him. Yes, the devil is not a gentleman so you don’t bargain with him. He is afraid of people who can exercise authority. When Jesus commanded him to leave, the next verse says “Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.”
Cherished one, it is not God’s duty to handle the devil anymore. It is your duty. Christ paralysed him and his cohorts (Col 2:15). So you are empowered to resist his person, schemes and strategies by exercising authority over them (James 4:7). Move from boasting in your identity and get to exercising authority over anything ungodly. As you do it consistently, you will walk in glorious sweet victories. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
I DECLARE
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, I put the devil where he belongs, under my feet. I use the power of my identity in Christ to exercise authority over the devil, his schemes, plot and strategies. I resist the devil and he flees from me. I resist sickness, pains, death, curse and anything ungodly and they obey because Jesus has given me the authority to reign in victory. Hallelujah !
