FOCAL TEXT: Jeremiah 3 vs 15
►► ”And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.~|NKJV| ______________________________________
GLORIOUS greetings, Cherished one. The word translated as “pastor” is the same word that is translated as “shepherd.” In the Old Testament, God is referred to as the Shepherd. In the New Testament too, Jesus Christ called Himself the “good Shepherd” and the writer of Hebrews calls Christ the Great Shepherd (Psalm 23:1;John 10:11; Hebrews 13:20). Literally, a shepherd is a person who takes care of sheep. The verb to “shepherd” means to protect the sheep and provide them with food and water. *Shepherds after God’s heart watch over the sheep, leading them to “places” with good food and water.*

Shepherds also keep the sheep from getting lost and protect them from wild animals. The term “Pastor or Shepherd” is used metaphorically in the Bible to refer to taking care of people’s spiritual needs. This includes teaching them what God has told them in the Bible and guiding them in the way they should live. So when our focal text says God Himself will bring His people shepherds according to His heart, *He means Pastors who will watch over, care for, teach, protect His people and lead them in the right paths.*

Shepherds according to God’s heart also implies those who stick to doing God’s will despite the pressures of life, not their own selfish interest. *Your shepherd mostly shape your way of thinking and lifestyle.* So take heed to know whether your pastor is fulfilling God’s mandate as a priority or is chasing after clouts, fame, money and religious jamboree. The Holy Spirit is your guide, do not be afraid. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
