FOCAL TEXT: Matthew 11 vs 29 ►► “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”~》NKJV》
FRUITFUL greetings, Cherished one. We were admonished yesterday that Christ is the best Subject of learning for our Christian walk. A deviation from learning from Christ leads to misrepresenting Him. To learn involves receiving knowledge, instructions and directions for living. A wise and clever disciple who chooses to learn from His Teacher can successfully represent Him.
To learn from Jesus is your responsibility, not His. He will supply the grace for you to learn from Him. How did Jesus react in difficult times? How did He respond in words, thoughts and deeds to people and issues of life? Search the Scriptures and learn how He did it. The Message Translation puts it this way “Walk with me and work with me – WATCH HOW I DO it. LEARN the unforced rhythms of grace…” (Matthew 11:29). Jesus unveils some characters that we should learn from Him.
One, He is gentle, which means He is mild-tempered, kind and considerate. And two, He is lowly in heart, which implies humility. According to Jesus, coming to Him results in receiving rest; But learning from Him results in finding REST for your soul. In other words, you can only enjoy the rest He gives when you are totally committed to LEARNING from His character. Yes, this unleashes a rest for your whole inner being (mind, emotions and nerves). The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for granting me the grace to learn from Your gentle and humble character. I humbly submit to Your Spirit to help me represent you well in this world. Amen!
Pray for the increased wisdom to learn from the character of Christ.
