ANOTHER form of distraction which according to Jesus can choke the word you hear is deceitfulness of riches. Note He didn’t say riches per se, but the seduction of it. There are several cases that many think riches can make them have eternal peace and joy. There are many who think riches can make one spiritually matured; but thinking or believing wrongly about riches can deceive you.
Deceitfulness refers to seductiveness or delusion, which means “a false belief that is resistant to confrontation with actual facts”. Being deceived is a state of being misled from the right path. Riches can deceive you when it looks so attractive, alluring and tempting. This can serve as a thorn piecing through the word you hear making you unfruitful. Many trust in the voice of riches than the word of God. Such folks allow the spirit of mammon to dictate for them. Some even lose their faith in God because of the seduction of riches.
Cherished one, it is the true blessings of God that makes one rich without sorrows. Any form of riches which deceives or seduces you will add sorrows to your life. Never bow to the deceptions or promises that riches of this world claim to deliver. Deceitfulness of riches can distract and thwart your destiny if you allow it. Jesus said such folks allow it to choke the word making them unfruitful. To choke means to press to suffocate or completely strangle. Beloved, learn to understand God’s terms relating to riches and be focused on that. Refuse to allow riches to deceive you. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
PRAYER
Father of all true riches, I thank You for shielding me from the deceitfulness of riches which has its basis from the secular world. Yes, Your blessings make me rich without sorrows. I refused to be seduced by worldly riches. For I am fully persuaded above material things and Your riches lead me to walk in truth not deception. I am rich and abound in glorious success in Jesus Mighty Name.
