WORSHIP is very vital. Its essence cannot be overemphasized. Sometimes, the word “worship” is mistakenly used to mean songs with slow tempo, but it has a more deeper meaning than that. “Worship” as used in the above scripture in the Hebrew language “SHAWKHAW” means “to bow down”. It is usually expressed outwardly by bowing down, lying prostrate before a Superior. Another “modern” word used interchangeably is adoration.
From our focal text, three distinct words are used to express three different acts of adoration: thus lying prostrate, bowing down and kneeling down before Him. Moreover, during worship, the choice of words also matters. It’s not a moment to request or petition God about your needs. In fact, worship is NOT about you, but it’s ALL about HIM.We worship God for who He is. He is Mighty, Supreme, Awesome, Glorious, Excellent, Almighty, The Creator etc.
Many have limited their worship to always singing, neglecting other aspects of bowing, bending, kneeling and lifting up holy hands to God (1Tim 2:8). These must be done from a pure heart towards God with a spiritual significance. We are informed that angels do bow before God, so worship has a weightier value before Him (Heb 1:6; Rev 7:11). Cherished one, engage your spirit, soul (emotions, will, mind) and body to worship God at all times. It pleases Him because He inhabits the praises of His people (Ps 22:3). The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
PRAYER
Almighty Father, I bow down to Your supremacy. I worship Your majesty. I magnify Your excellency. I glorify Your blessed Name. You are so great, so Wonderful, All Powerful, Omniscient, Omnipresent and Holy. Your greatness is as Yourself for You are incomparable. Be adored and exalted in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
