SHALOM greetings, Cherished one. The issue of having a “spiritual father” is fought by many ignorant folks. Some say there is nothing like a spiritual father and God is the only spiritual father. *Yes, God is the ultimate Father, but He has assigned every member to an authority figure on earth.* The subject of “spiritual father” or “father in the Lord” refers to an authority figure or leader on earth.
A “father in the Lord” mostly refers to one who has begotten you through the gospel of Christ. They are ones who persistently teach, guide, instruct, nurture and train you in the ways of the Lord. They are people built by the word of God and have experienced deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul told the Church in Corinth that he has begotten them through the gospel as a father. Fathers are a symbol of origin, authority and orderliness. Believers who do not submit to any father figure or authority are mostly malnourished.
Their growth system is mostly affected by wrong speech, thoughts and deeds. They easily become spiritually deficient. Most easily grow up in ignorance and arrogance. Some end up fighting their elders and fathers (Pastors and church leaders) because they do not have a revelation of the leader or father figure. Our focal text unveils that there may be many instructors, but there is always that one you can confidently call “my father in Lord” because he has begotten you through the gospel of Jesus. Beloved, refuse to move to and fro for signs and wonders. Be stable, submit and grow under the father (authority figure) God brings your way. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
PRAYER
Dear Mighty Father, I thank You for the many instructors given to me in this journey. I thank You for given me a father in the Lord who nurtures, trains and counsels me in Your ways. I humbly submit for higher levels of growth. I pray for more wisdom, insight, knowledge and resources for my spiritual father in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen !
