GRACIOUS greetings to you, Cherished one. Many have set goals at different levels of their life. Well, it is good to set goals; but you must set goals with a prize in mind. What prize will you get for pursuing that goal? Our focal text unveils that the Apostle keeps pressing towards the goal for the prize. He wasn’t just pressing towards the goal. A prize as used here is one that is received after winning in a public game; Thus, the award to the victor in the games. Awards are not just given to anyone who engages in a race or those who press towards the goal. People who win are those who fix their gaze on the prize.
In life, you can’t just be pressing and pushing for nothing unworthy. Ask whether what you are pursuing is worth pressing for and does it is have any prize tag? It is written concerning Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 that He endured the cross because of the JOY that was set before Him. That joy caused Him to despise the shames of life. Yes, the joy that many people would receive salvation and come to His kingdom.
Cherished one, if what you are busily pursuing for has no prize or awards at the end then it’s not worth pursuing. But if it is worth it, don’t stop pressing. Though there will be many distractions on the way, refuse to be distracted. Also, you will have many chances and opportunities on your way, utilize them for good. Fix your gaze on the prize and let that motivate and inspire you to keep on pressing. *Refuse to give up if the prize is worth fighting for. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
PRAYER
Dear glorious Father, thank You for giving me the strength to press towards the goal to attain the prize. I refuse to give up or give in. For my earthly and heavenly rewards are assured in Jesus Name. Amen!_
