LOVELY greetings, Cherished one. There are many Bible characters who inspire us one way or the other but the ones whose character, attitude and lifestyle received a glorious and positive comment from our Lord Jesus Christ is worth embracing and emulation. One of them was described by Matthew by his position as a centurion. A centurion was a commander of one hundred men in the Roman army. Thus, he was a captain or officer of one hundred men whose salary was equivalent to $54,000 per year.
This man had an attitude that is worthy of commendation and emulation. One, he loved and cared for people, especially those under him (servants). There are some people who get higher positions and don’t really care about the welfare of their subordinates. We can see this loving heart from his words and actions from our FOCAL TEXT (Matthew 8:5-6 ). Listen to the words of this officer, begging for a solution for his servant’s health (not his wife or daughter). Do we have masters, leaders and managers who care for their subordinates like this in our world? Yes! If you don’t know one, become one.
He saw it as a duty to care and support anyone rendering service to him. He loved the servant and treated him as his own family. Beloved, the state of our heart even in our little position matters a lot. How we treat others when we enjoy some prosperity is very vital. Don’t maltreat others because they are not of the same position or level as you. He said this man has been serving me in his strength, now that he is in terrible pain, let me help him by finding a better solution for him. Instead of sacking him from his post and employing another servant, he sought a solution for his servant. May God connect you to such leaders in life who will not just use you but will genuinely care for your needs in diverse ways. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
PRAYER
Precious Father, I thank You for the admonishment from Your word. I express Your love shed abroad in my heart to all calibre of people. I genuinely care for their needs as it lies in my power. I support others in diverse forms in Jesus Blessed Name. Amen!
