A Glorious greetings to you, cherished one. As you learn the principles of wealth creation and develop the mindset of a diligent worker, you must also consider the seasons of gathering. The preacher says in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven”. Never think that as a youth, there is always more time for you. Don’t be like those who always procrastinate and think they can do anything at anytime. No, there are certain appointed times and seasons for every event; “A time to throw away stones, and a time to GATHER stones…”_ (Ecc 3:5).
Our focal text unveils the essence of knowing when to gather and keep on harvesting without laziness. And summer time symbolises a time of gathering fruits of the land and laying them up against winter. This is the wise attitude of the ant as described in Proverbs 6:8 “…the ant prepares its provisions in the summer and gathers its food in the harvest.” Gathering at the right time is a hallmark for wise sons and daughters. So you must discern the seasons and times of your life and maximise them whiles you have the opportunity. As the ant can’t gather whiles in winter because the conditions wouldn’t allow it, so it is in life.
The proverb summarises the idea that you need to maximise your youthful and healthy stage, opportunities, energies, talents, gifts and money at the right time to avoid becoming a shame to yourself, parents and society. To avoid shame in any area of life, you must heed to the instructions of wisdom and one of them is gather in summer and keep on harvesting in diligence. The Message Translation puts it _”Make hay while the sun shines – that’s smart; go fishing during harvest – that’s stupid.”_ (Proverbs 10:5). The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for the ability to discern into the times and seasons of my life. By Your insight given me, I am maximising the moment, opportunities and time for good. By wisdom, I gather my food in the summer and keep harvesting in gracious diligence to avoid shame in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!_
