1 Corinthians 15 vs
58》”Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”》》NKJV》
FAVOURED greetings to you Cherished one. Our focal text unveils a discourse of how through Christ we have been made victorious over the law of sin and death. “The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:56,57). The Apostle then expressively continued “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast and immovable…” In other words, due to this victory we have in Christ over sin and death, be steadfast and immovable.
How did Christ overcome sin and death? The epistles say He bore our sins in His body to the cross. (1 Peter 2:24). He knew no sin but became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21). So He crucified sin on the cross. Remember, Jesus died your death. He did not die for Himself because He wasn’t a sinner. He did it to save the whole human race from the power of sin and eternal death. (John 1:29/ 1 John 2:1,2). Now the dominion of sin is broken by His resurrection power. And through His resurrection power, we are awaken unto a new life without corruption (1 Corinthians 15:17-20). He also overcame death; which implies both spiritual and physical death. Spiritual death implies a total separation from the life of God. But God reconciled us to Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ ( 2 Corinthians 5:18).
He overcame physical death in that He literally rose from the dead. Death could not hold Him captive in the grave. His resurrection brings to us a living hope for the dead in Christ to rise again. (1 Corinthians 15:17). So thanks be to God for this victory and be steadfast and immovable. Thus, don’t allow religion, traditions of men, philosophy and your own experience rob you from this victory over sin and death through Christ Jesus. Being steadfast and immovable imply standing firm, strong, unswerving and settled in His victory by faith. Refuse to be tossed to and fro by wrong doctrines. Rest in His victory for you. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
Precious Father, I thank You for the glorious victory over the law of sin and death. I remain steadfast and immovable in this victory. The power and dominion of sin and death are broken over my life. I dominate sin and walk in the newness of life in Jesus Victorious Name. Amen!
