24/7 DOXA Content, 14th October-EMPOWERED TO WATCH AND PRAY

GLORIOUS greetings Cherished one. According to Saint Matthew’s gospel, when the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was nigh, He went to pray at the Garden of Gethsemane with His disciples. He took with him Peter, James and John. But he later went further away to pray alone leaving the disciples. *Beloved, a call to fulfil divine assignment can never be successful without engaging in watching and prayer.* Your future is God’s history, so it is a must to fellowship with Him in prayer to receive strength, guidance and direction for this journey.

The power of prayer can never be underestimated. You can’t serve a spiritual God and be living carnally. Not watching and praying will make you carnal. Jesus returned to see His closest disciples asleep three times and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? (Matthew 26:40). Friends, there is a time to sleep and a time to watch and pray. When you use watching and praying time to sleep, you will be overcome by temptations. To “watch” means be sober, vigilant, cautious, active, keep awake or alert. Here, Jesus was alert about the times and seasons of His life. It was a trying moment in fulfilling His divine assignment (Matthew 26:38,39).

It was a matter of yielding to the Father’s will of dying for the whole human race. Not yielding to the Father’s will for your life is a dangerous way of living. Many have been tempted to ignore the Father’s will for their lives because they do not engage in watching and prayer. Don’t stay alert or watch without praying and don’t pray without watching. You have to do both. Knowing this, Jesus gave us His Holy Spirit to help and empower us to do His commands, so you are now empowered to watch and pray. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always. Amen!
